Indian diet after gallbladder removal surgery

Cholecystectomy is the surgical removal of the gallbladder. The gallbladder needs to be removed when there are gallstones present in the gallbladder that may block the ducts of the gallbladder, bile or in some cases the pancreas too. Surgical removal of the gallbladder is the best option. Once the gallbladder has been removed, there are definitely some dietary changes that you need to make because you are going to live without a gallbladder.

The gallbladder plays an important role in storing excess bile for later use. Once the gallbladder is removed, excess bile cannot be stored and used for later use. So certain dietary changes must be made to live a healthy life. A low-fat and high-fiber diet is recommended after the surgery. Lean meat such as chicken can be consumed in moderation. Fibrous food such as green leafy vegetables (Keerai), carrots, brinjal, green beans, cabbages, beetroot, can be eaten plentifully. Rice and rice products like idly and dosa can be eaten in moderation. High-fat foods should be avoided. Whatever you eat, have them in small portions and spread them through the day.
