Can I eat eggs after gallbladder surgery?

The primary function of our gallbladder is to store and pump the concentrated bile needed for digestion, which is vital for fat metabolism. Bile which is produced by the liver is stored in concentrated forms in the gallbladder. When the gallbladder is removed as a result of gallstones, the bile of lower concentration enters directly into the small intestine.

After a gallbladder removal surgery, it is recommended to have your meal spread throughout the day. One egg approximately contains 11 grams of fat. After a gallbladder removal surgery, the amount of fat in an egg can be difficult for you to tolerate immediately. But as your body is adjusting, eating one whole egg in one serving should not cause any problem. For a low-fat diet, 40-60gms of fat is allowed per day. Eating one egg a day should not be a problem after your gallbladder removal surgery. If you are young and active you may have two whole eggs a day. Make it a point to consume both the eggs in two different servings, preferably, one in the morning and one afternoon. But make it a point not to eat more than two whole eggs a day.
